OK, the chemistry lesson begins here. Most products that foam up (shampoo, shower gel, bubble bath, face wash etc.) use sulphates, which come from the family of detergents known as surfactants.

Sulphates are great cleaning agents in that they produce a lot of foam. The process of creating that foam is known as crucial micelle concentration (cmc). The higher the level of cmc, the more foam is produced, but also the risk of irritation is increased. We don’t know whether or not sulphates are actually dangerous, but we’re not about to take any risks. Our products contain non-sulphate surfactants, making them low cmc products.

They create less foam, but are much more mild on the skin. They get the job done just as well, but there’s a bit less fuss and bother, if you like.
